July 2-12, 2025
Together we’ll spend 8 of our 11 days weaving through this incredibly unique cluster of islands rich with knitting history. We will leave no stone unturned as we wander through the north, south, east, and west of Shetland.
From time spent in the museums to exploring ancient archaeological sites, a fair isle knit-along to walks along the scenic cliffs and seaside, not to mention tastings of whisky & gin from the northernmost distilleries in the UK, there is something for everyone on this tour!
Here's the first peek until everything is finalized.
Gathering together for 1 night in Aberdeen, we’ll have a wee tour of Aberdeenshire before boarding the overnight ferry for Shetland. When we emerge from our cabins and disembark, we’ll begin our 7-night stay in Shetland, with the first two hotels giving us easy access to the south of mainland Shetland before settling in for a luxurious 5 nights at our favorite island retreat.
Joined periodically by local guides and Shetland knitwear designer Ella Gordon, you will find yourself immersed in Shetland culture from past to present. All three lodgings have been chosen for their distinct history and charm, including a 16th century laird's homestead! With delicious local food, visits with sheep, and plenty of yarn, you and your fellow knitting enthusiasts will leave the island a Shetland expert. Then it’s a quick flight back to Aberdeen for our final night.

🧶I will tell you that the person who is happy to share is a wonderful person. If I didn't have a roommate already, I would not hesitate to share with her. We have traveled together before. She is kind, generous, curious and thoughtful. Definitely a good new friend to have.
